From pizza parties to executive panels, MOCEAN made a Texas sized splash at SXSW! Read on to hear about how our teams launched a massive activation for North Italia on Pi Day as well as participated in some groundbreaking executive led gaming panels.
The New Hollywood Gaming Studio with PlayStation and Riot Games
We kicked off SXSW with a panel featuring our President of Integrated and Brand, Erica Coates, to discuss the incredible work we’ve developed with our clients at PlayStation and Riot Games. The panel took place at Lamberts at Brand Innovators, in which we shared our experience working with iconic gaming IP like God of War.
Next, we headed to the SXSW gaming track, where Verge editor Alex Cranz moderated a panel with our Chief Strategy Officer, Allan Gungormez, to further discuss how gaming studios are becoming the new drivers of Hollywood.
Both panels discussed how gaming studios are beginning to overtake traditional Hollywood studios as the most influential entertainment brands today. Erica and Allan dove deep into how MOCEAN’s entertainment background has been pivotal in creating breakout campaigns for both partners.

Throwing Austin’s Biggest Pizza Party with North Italia
Two days later, we celebrated Pi Day (3.14) with our clients at North Italia! And what better way to celebrate than with a Texas-sized pizza party, complete with bmx + motocross stunts and free tattoos?!
MOCEAN executed the entire event activation, donning our North Italia jumpsuits to source the stunt drivers, tattoo artists, hand out tickets, set the pie day vibe, and organize the event space with SXSW.
MOCEAN Mentors Music Professionals
Last but not least, Sanaz Lavaedian, our SVP of Music at MOCEAN, hosted a music mentoring session with students and professionals alike to discuss how best to license music for commercial use. A group of music students from Ohio State University asked some very engaging and thoughtful questions about music licensing, and learned how best to pitch their tracks to music supervisors.
Sanaz wrapped up the festival by networking with music colleagues, sharing drinks, and enjoying all the BBQ Texas had to offer. We can’t wait for our next SXSW!
